Guilmet lighthouse clock with helical spring torsion pendulum. Circa 1885.
Eightday movement, striking the hours and half hour on a gong, with Brocot escapement. Movement with torsion pendulum suspended from the centre of the dome which simulates the light. Behind the lighthouse glass is the torsion rotation visible. The clockmaker Guilmet is known for building several types of industrial clocks, they illustrate the technical inventions and developments of the 19th Century.
