A very beautiful and demure French Religieuse, made around 1680.
The rectangular fruitwooden case is equipped with a curved tympanum and inlaid with fine piping. The dial is covered with black velvet, on which a silvered chapter ring is fitted. Under the chapter ring is a cartouche suspended with the signature: Thomas Rumault - Amiens. The timepiece has a duration of a day, is built between two rectangular plates and is powered by a spring in a barrel drum. It consists of clockwork carried out with verge escapement and a short pendulum with wire suspension and cycloïdal cheeckes and striking work.
