**Museum of Fine Arts Ghent**

The collection of the Ghent Museum of Fine Arts offers visitors a wide-ranging survey of art in Flanders from the Middle Ages up to the first half of the 20th century. Among the old masterpieces are two works by Hieronymus Bosch. The main body of the collection however is a large number of works from the 19th and 20th centuries. Via an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures and drawings, visitors are introduced to the 19th-century art movements of Realism, Romanticism, Impressionism, Symbolism and Expressionism, and to the Surrealism of the 20th century.

In May 2007 the museum building, designed in 1898 by Charles van Rysselberghe as a Classicist temple of the arts, reopened after having been undergoing thorough renovations and restorations.
