This year, Arte Fiera Art First celebrates its 35th edition from 28 to 31 January 2011 at the Bologna Exhibition Centre.

One of the first of the international modern and contemporary art fairs organized in Italy and abroad in the 1970s, Arte Fiera Art First directed by Silvia Evangelisti has become Italy’s largest and most important art fair. The Selection Committee has constantly raised the quality of proposals by carefully selecting galleries and by presenting an outstanding programme of collateral cultural events. Aware of the new function that art fairs play on the art market, Arte Fiera Art First maintains its role of showcase on the world art market and continues to develop and promote Italian and international art from the early 20th century right up to the latest trends. More than 200 galleries are presented in the 15,000 m2 of the Bologna Exhibition Centre, divided into three sectors focused on modern art, contemporary art, and a section reserved to Young Galleries with not more than five years of activity, with the aim of attracting a wider public to the art market and to collecting. Among the events at the Fair is the round table “Art Education Programs,” organized by IACCA (International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art), which has chosen Arte Fiera Art First as the ideal occasion to introduce itself to Italy and discuss, with the participation of international experts, the timely subject of teaching the general public about art by the role of European corporate collections. Arte Fiera Art First also presents two important Prizes dedicated to young artists: the 5th edition of the Euromobil Prize - main sponsor of Arte Fiera Art First – for the best artist under 30 presented at Arte Fiera, to be awarded this year in the installation “I luoghi dell’arte” by a jury of critics and professionals. The winning work will become part of the art collection of the Lucchetta brothers, owners of the trademark; the 8th edition of the Furla Prize returns with a round table featuring curators invited and artists selected for this edition. The Art Café Space, in cooperation with Corraini Edizioni, will again present books and catalogues by the foremost art publishers presented at the Fair. Among the events that Arte Fiera Art First organizes in the city is the 6th edition of Bologna Art First from 28 January to 27 February 2011. The exhibition entitled ‘If one winter’s day a traveller,” curated by Julia Draganovic, becomes a unique path that each visitor is free to create for him/herself, an intimate voyage through installations interacting with sites in the city’s historical centre, with works by contemporary Italian and foreign artists represented by galleries in the Fair. On Saturday 29 January, Art White Night will turn Bologna’s historical centre into a a grand showcase for contemporary art, with museums, galleries, exhibitions and shops open until midnight.
