Extraordinarily rare and iconic vintage Gianni Versace Couture jacket from his infamous Fall 1992 collection. The show which Versace himself called Miss S&M, and is now more commonly referred to as the “Bondage” collection, is one of the shows that defined Gianni's legacy. During this period Gianni Versace was at his very peak of his creative powers and it shows. The high-maintenance looks were meant to be seen, not in a dungeon somewhere, but on the red carpet, where they absolutely dominated. More recently, Versace bondage pieces have been worn by Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Giovanna Battaglia and Kim Kardashian. Pieces from the A/W 1992/93 collection belong to Gianni Versace's most iconic and sought after designs. Having been featured in the advertising campaign and countless editorials, they are very well documented.
The jacket, presented on the 1992 runway by Helena Christensen, is made of a tangerine virgin wool crêpe featuring a tailored cut with padded shoulders, a clearly defined waist and piped button holes and is most opulently adorned with finely engraved metal fittings with medusa heads, buckled leather straps and a total of ten ornate rhinestone couture buttons. The jacket closes at the front with two couture buttons, four hidden buttons and three buckled leather straps.
