Liu Xiaofeng chooses subjects for her paintings that evoke luxury and eroticism. Her staged still lives of the series *Body* show female beauty and allurement. Liu Xiaofeng chooses not to include the faces of her characters and allows the view to fill in the missing parts. The images of female bodies are painted in an enlarged scale. In this way there remains a distance between the painted world and the world of the viewer. By using a color palette that only includes white, grey and black she underlines the stylised character of her work. The big tone contrasts evoke the idea that spotlights are turned on the painted ladies. Liu Xiaofeng’s photorealistic technique is outstanding.
Her oeuvre represents a self confident young Chinese generation. Liu Xiaofeng makes a link to the Chinese erotic paintings of the 18th century but translates them in to contemporary society.

The oval image in the middle on a rectangular canvas is framed by a grey painted passepartout.
A lady is wearing a light grey blouse with an embroidered pattern, a white skirt and a long black scarf of animal fell. She turns her waist to the viewer whose point of view is on hip height. The lady holds her left hand wearing a flower decorated bracelet and long, painted fingernails in an elegant position in her waist. Her gesture and the bright spot light turned on her and the oval frame remind of the end scene of an old black and white film.
