LAMBEAUX Jef (Antwerp 1852 - Brussels 1908), Belgian school. Jef Lambeaux is considered as one of the most important belgian sculptor of the late 19th century. His whole work is characterized by an excellent rendering of mouvement.
The most recognizable work by the artist is the “Brabo fountain”, known worldwide and located on the Grand market of the city of Antwerp since 1887.
His masterpiece “The human passions” was finished in 1899. It’s a monumental marble relief (6m x 11m) exhibited in the Horta temple located in the Cinquantenaire park in Brussels.
Many works by lambeaux are exhibited in the following museums: Brussels, Gent, Leuven, Charleroi, Orsay (Paris) and Douai. Other sculptures decorate places such as: Antwerp zoo, park of Mariemont, Grand market of Dendermonde, the cathedral of Antwerp, the arches of Cinquatenaire, Boverie park in Liège, Ambiorix square & Sablon park in Brussels.
