Price: Price on request

Offered by E. Pranger Oriental Art

Ceremonial wine vessel with a pear-shaped body finely cast around the rim with a scroll-patterned band divided at the centre with a vertical ridge and further divided at the sides by two simple loop handles supporting a high swing handle cast in the form of a thick twisted rope, all supported on a high spreading foot cast. The waisted cover rising to a shallow dome cast with a similar diamond lozenge band encircling a segmented knob cast with ribbed cicada motifs, the exterior surface with an even soft green patina interspersed with areas of reddish-brown corrosion, the interior with a bright-green malachite encrusted patina oval.

Like most latecomers, the You class is essentially derivative. Eight different subcategories have been identified and practically all stem from older shapes. They all display two outstanding formal characteristics - a swing handle and a close-fitting lid of impressive size.
