This wonderful well-figured burr walnut desk is of the highest quality. There are several secret drawers everywhere in the desk. Also the knees of the basement are made to hide secret drawers. The two mirrors in the doors were very fashionable in the 18th century, because it made everything visible in the room. The woodcarving of the top and bombaid sides of the upper part are very unusual even as the tops on both sides of this magnificent piece. The bear claw-feet are of typical Dutch design of those days. Under the mirrors are two drawers placed to hold candlesticks for the evening. The interior is also impressive with several secret sections.
