A rare museum cabinet with solid engraved silver mounts.
The silver has the master mark DF, this is Dirk Froger, working in Amsterdam. This silversmith is known for his small silver works. Literature: see Voet.
The cabinet is made of solid oak and veneered with a special type of burr walnut, the inside is veneered with rosewood.
The doors are inlayed with several other woods in the shape of flowers. The arch sides are also inlaid with various types of wood.
In the double bowed frieze, inlaid with satinwood, the initials and their mirror image of the bride and groom Groot Cardinaal, carried by putti in both corners flanked by an angel.
The monograms are crowned with the Russian Tsar's crown, because of the special friendship between Hendrik Hendrikse Cardinaal and the Tsar.
The cabinet was made by Hendrik Hendrikse Cardinaal in West Zaandam in the year 1732.
This piece of furniture is extremely rare.
