This decorative inkwell is made from a porcelain cover of a Chinese porcelain vase from the KangXi period ( 1662-1722 ).
In the 19th century this cover was made into an inkwell.
The mounting is made of ormolu bronze.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, many porcelains were embellished.
