No. 051. A superb Symphonion "Eroica" three-disc upright music box, Germany c. 1895.
This very rare music machine plays three discs at the same time in harmony with each other. This creates a beautiful harmonic sound and piano-forte effect. Walnut case with fancy spindled gallery with corner finials. The original photo litho glass panel in the door shows a semi-clad lady and cherub. Record storage at bottom of case. Has coin slot on right side of case. When money (5 euro cent / 10 pfenning) is inserted into the slot the music plays twice the air. Uses 3-disc sets. The discs are 13 5/8” / 35cm diameter, marked A, B & C, each playing on two combs driven in harmony by two spring motors. First install disc B. Has 9 complete sets of A, B & C discs.
