In the 17th century most locks were made from brass or wrought iron. The matching keys were often elaborately decorated and showed great craftsmanship.
The bit of this key is meticulously cut out in shapes of fleur-de-lys. The transversal shape of the shaft also has this shape. The bow consists of two facing dolphins.
