Jennifer Aniston Flaunts $1 Million Painting

16 februari 2010

It seems Actress Jennifer Aniston has had a great month. One can imagine she might have enjoyed hearing the numerous rumours currently in circulation about the collapse of former husband Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie relationship. And even better, she now gets to grace the cover of Architectural Digest, showing off her art collection.

One beauty from her collection, Robert Motherwell's Throw of Dice No. 17, 1963, sold at Christie’s New York two years ago for the sum $1.18 million. The oil on canvas features strips of black, red, and light blue across a rich, orange field. Reportedly Aniston paid just under the work’s $1.2 million high estimate, including buyer’s premium.

Brad Pitt, for the record, has long been known as a devoted art collector. At Switzerland’s Art Basel last year he reportedly snatched up a 1998 Neo Rauch painting for just under $1 million and spent time eyeing works by artists like Matt Johnson and Jim Hodges. According reports, Pitt dropped $500,000 on high-end furniture in Milan in 2008.

Now, as Pitt prepares to confirm a possible breakup, Aniston gets to sit back, relax, and enjoy her fine Motherwell.
