Mr Brainwash was the subject of Banksy's street art documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop, but he's gone on to much more since that starting point.
Mr Brainwash, aka Theirry Guetta sprung into focus after Bristol-based street artist Banksy made a documentary about him. The film, Exit Through The Gift Shop was a tongue-in-cheek look at this strange character who started out on the streets of Los Angeles as a filmmaker.
In typical Banksy style, the film never made clear whether Mr Brainwash was the real thing. Guetta was an earnest French man who had obsessively filmed street artists all over LA at night for three years, but who had never actually made the film he was intending to.
He eventually turned his own hand to graffiti, stencilling on walls all over the world. His works are generally famous images, doctored in some way by paint splatters, photocopying or scanning.
His debut show 'Life is Beautiful' came in 2008, where he managed to create a vast number of works for a high-profile exhibition. He sold to the Los Angeles rich and famous. This exhibition featured in the final part of Banksy's documentary. It was supposed to run for three weeks, but instead opened for three months.
Since then, Mr Brainwash has created the artwork for Madonna's greatest hits album, and has worked on the marketing and images on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' album I'm with You.
