In 1915, Victor and Valentine Michiels opened an antiques shop. Their daughter, Madame Lydie Michiels, moved into the Sablon area of Brussels in 1939. This gallery was taken over by her daughter, Madame Monique Lemaire. She specializes in earthenware and porcelain, and in particular in the two main production centres of Belgium: Tournai and Brussels. In 1993 the family-run business was strengthened by the arrival of Monique Lemaire’s son, Jean. He has a degree in history and has published a series of works and articles dedicated to antique ceramics.
