Very rare tall model Atmos clock with black metal case, copper coloured border and black rectangular dial with dagger style numerals.
The clock is in an absolute pristine condition. The hands are in the well known Reutter 'chemin de fer' style.
Top of the bill in Art Deco, a perfect match with a Jean-Michel Frank shagreen coffee table and lamp.
Working: The Atmos clock contains a drum with a U-shaped tube containing mercury and a gas. Due to temperature changes a thermics develops in the drum and causes the axle with the U-shaped tube to oscillate to and fro. Because of the continuous changes in temperature there is a continuous oscillation which causes the movement to roll permanently, we have a ‘Pendule Perpétuelle’. The invention was the work of the French engineer Jean Léon Reutter. The clock is in mint condition.
