No. 084. Griesbaum singing bird box automaton, gold and enamel miniature painting, c.1900.
The bird music box is guiled and finely decorated. The top and lid are decorated with a miniature idyllic landscape and flower bouquets. These are mounted on a light blue enamel surface. The painting is executed manually in enamel with an amazing precision and superior quality. The bird is artfully decorated with real feathers and an ivory beak. When bird sings, he turns back and forth, moving beak and wings. Winds on the bottom. Functioning very well, box in a perfect condition. HxWxD 4x10, 50x7 cm.
