About 35 years ago Peter Hardt, the founder of the same named Gallery desired to discover the world.
Inspired by Heinrich Harrer’s book “Seven Years in Tibet”, he spontaneously decided to sell all his assets, and left Germany together with his wife Ingrid to explore the Far East.
It was on this journey, lasting more than 5 years and exclusively conducted by bicycle, that their love for Asia was born.
Back in Germany, both decided to sell the personal souvenirs they had brought along on a flea market, and surprisingly there was a great demand for items from the Far East.
Amazed by this success, but also missing the excitements they had experienced on their long journey, they re-invested their modest assets into a bus and headed again to Asia.
As their travelling experiences and businesses at the flea market had greatly contributed to their knowledge, this time they looked out for beautiful objects more deliberately.
In Kathmandu, their final destination, they traded their bus for their first larger Sculpture.
The foundation of an unparalleled success story was laid, and what had started with a small booth on a flea market 35 years ago developed into one of the leading Asian Art Trading Houses operating on a global scale.
Today, Galerie Peter Hardt, run by Peter Hardt together with his son Tobias, serves the needs of private collectors, museums, and corporations throughout the world with highest quality antiquities from South-East Asia. The company exhibits at numerous Antique Fairs in America and Europe.
