Still life, oil on canvas 60 x 80 cm., Signed lower left
Johannes Hendrik Eversen has become famous for his finely detailed still lifes, inspired by the work of the great 17th century Dutch masters. He began as a portrait painter but discovered during his training at the Heatherley School of Art, London (1930), the beauty of the still life painters Willem Heda, Pieter Claesz and Clara Peeters. The artist dedicated himself completely to the increasingly perfecting the appearance of texture and reflection of light on the various objects he painted. The last forty years of his life he lived in Ede, where he painted some landscapes. Museums: among others Haags Gemeentemuseum.
