Even though Suze Robertson had an academic education she choose for a more modern perspective. Feeling and her own personality were important for her works of art. She painted mostly the tough life of the women at the country side in villages as Laren and Blaricum and her style became more expressive between 1889 and 1916. She moved to the Dutch province of Brabant in 1895 where she started to paint with dark colors.
