Piccadilly lamp by GERARD TAYLOR for MEMPHIS.
Lacquered metal in various colours.
Gerard Taylor graduated from The Royal College of Art in London in 1981. He then moved to Milan where he worked with Sottsass Associati as part of the Memphis group. The neo-pop imprint in the choice of materials, colours and bold forms is combined with an artistic assimilation of kitsch. Memphis was made up of a heterogeneous group of designers, from Javier Mariscal to Peter Shire. They were officially presented at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1981, reaping great success with their controversial proposals.
