The name Serapi is attributed to the carpets which are made in the northwest
of Persia, in the region of Sarab and Gharadagh. The Serapi carpets have all
geometrical shapes and will easily match various interior decorations. It is
not well known when the first Serapi carpets were knotted. This specific
carpet has an eye-catching medallion with a green color surrounded with
a wide border. The colors blue, rose, green and mud red which are normally
difficult to combine are matched beautifully in this carpet. Considering the
age of this carpet, being from the beginning of the nineteenth century, it is
in a very good condition. A couple of centimeters of the lower edge of the
carpet has been repaired. Also, small pieces here and there have been
touched upon.
