This stunning mid 19th century commode comes from a Parisian pied-à-terre curated by Hubert de Givenchy. The commode is decorated with gold European varnish on a black background in chinoiserie lacquers. All over decorated with characters in landscapes, flowers and bamboo. The front with four drawers flanked by detached columns. The top of black granite.
The dream of the previous owner was a Parisian pied-à-terre, and of a Parisian life, and who better to help and advise to turn that dream into a reality than his dear and special friend Hubert de Givenchy. With his impeccable eye for detail and his innate sense of harmony Givenchy embarked this project. First a superb apartment was found in the heart of the 7eme arrondis- sement in a prestigious building, looking out above the trees over the Esplanade des Invalides to the Eiffel Tower with its brilliant hourly light show brightening the night skyline. For the interior of this stunning Parisian pied-à-terre every object was carefully selected including this stunning commode.
