A very rare and important Dutch Frisian stained elmwood musical wall clock Klaas Andriese circa 1810
30-cm polychrome painted dial with engraved pewter chapter ring with Roman numerals, fine pierced brass hands, inscribed Amsterdam within scrolls above the date aperture, personifications for the four continents as spandrels, moonphase in the arch, brass posted wieght driven movement with anchor escapement and rack half hour striking on two alternating bells, playing one of four long melodies every hour and one of four shorter melodies every half hour, fine elmwood case of rich colour, broken pediment with chequered banding surmounted by three urn finials, finely foliate pierced front and side frets, canted corners with ebonised columns flanking the glazed door, shaped tail with brass Father Time lenticle. The inside of the case is signed Klaas Andriese.
