Rare regulator, cartel d'applique.
The wooden backplate is a new one, not belonging to the clock.
The pendulum and the clockwork make an oscillating movement. Signed Breguet and numbered 3540. The enamel dial shows the hours and minutes in Arabic numbers and the seconds by blued steel hands. Date, weekday and month are presented on three secundairy dials. The well excuted compensationpendulum is to Berthouds' design and has a knife suspension. The principle is similar to that of Ellicots' but uses only one pair of bars. As one expands down it presses on one end of a pivotted lever and thus automatically raises the bob attached to the other end and keeps the effective length of the pendulum constant. A pointer attached to the pivotted lever indicates the degree of thermal compensation being achieved.
