No. 107. A very fine gilt bronze cartel clock, d’époque Louis XVI , mascaron, by Gérard à Ste Menehould, France circa 1780.
Grand cartel/wall clock, gilt bronze case and gilt bronze and chiselled mountings, with eight day movement, striking on a bell. Signed on the white enamel dial Gerard à Ste Menehould. The bronze captures classical Louis XVI mythological symbols such as the mascaron, ram, lion and the ‘Golden Fleece’, vases, pineapple finials. A very fine and decorative Louis XV wall cock in the original state, gilding and movement. In a good working condition H. 82,5 cm.
