Wilhelmus (Willem) Hendrikus Petrus Johannes de Zwart 1862 - 1931 Lived and worked until 1894 in The Hague and in Amsterdam from 1900 to 1905. Painted different genres in different styles. His work is as varied subject matter and color. Also made wonderful etchings. He was friends with Breitner, but his early work has more the atmosphere of the painter and etcher William Witsen
The choice of subjects belonged to William the Black Hague School, in its style and color to the Amsterdam Impressionists. He is also known as the "Hague Breitner 'mentioned. His landscapes, still lifes and figure paintings he painted with a smooth, bold brushstroke. The paint he brought thickly, sometimes directly from the tube, with bright color buttons exuberant reds, yellows and blues, so his paintings were given a special vibrancy. Museums, such as Hague Municipal Museum and Kröller-Müller in Otterlo.
