This tobacco box is beautifully cut and engraved.
 
The text on the lid: "ik hoop door t geloof en liefde, kragtigt fortuyn komt van god almagtig Daar vrede is woont god hebt vrede in u gemoet gij wort gezegent met veel moet".
 
Around this text eight medallions with symbolic figures, such as justice and hope.
 
At the bottom: Sword with laurel wreath, around the text: "wapen van batavia", next to it two crowned eagles.
 
On the rim: initials: R. J. B.
