A pair of magnificent, ormolu four-light Empire candelabra.
The candle arms are supported by a torch wrapped with leafy vines in the hand of a
Bacchante, one with a folded animal skin and a garland of grapes in its hair, the other with wings.
Bacchantes accompanied Bacchus, the God of wine on his travels.
The candle arms are beautifully decorated with small flowers and leaves.
The flame on the torch, when removed, can also carry a candle.
The set stands on a beautiful base decorated with flower and leaf motifs.
The chasing is of very fine quality. The ormolu is original.
