Flemish or French, late XVIIth. Century, Louis XIV style.
A very good large walnut armchair with slightly slanted rectangular backrest and padded seat. With scrolled arms finishing in 'bec de corbin'. On block and stout spiraled turned legs linked by a 'H' shaped stretcher, raised front stretcher. The chair upholstered in period wool 'gros-point' needlepoint with large floral design. The condition of the upholstering is surprisingly good, some wear of use on the seat. The wood has a nice warm patina.
