Johannes Hermanus Barend Koekkoek is a famous Dutch artist.
He was the third son of the marine painter Hermanus Koekkoek
Sr, brother of Willem Koekkoek, and nephew of Barend Cornelis
Koekkoek. His grandfather was the painter Johannes Hermanus
Koekkoek. Koekkoek started painting in the romantic tradition of
his father. In the early sea and river scenes his father’s influence is
clearly visible in the careful painting style and fine detailing. Later
he was influenced by the The Hague School and he painted beach
and sea views in a freer manner.
