An attractive 'Urn' mantel clock. ca 1815 retailed by J.J. Schmidt Hofuhrmacher, Karlsruhe. The 8 day movement strikes on a bell. Height. 42 cm. Johannes Jakob Schmidt clockmaker to the court, a maker of repute in Karlsruhe, was born in 1770 in Durlach and died in 1846 in Karlsruhe.
