A nice important and very unusual French so-called "Religieuse" table clock signed "Gauderon a Paris", the very unusual Boulle inlaid case attributed to Andreas Charles Boulle. This was the most famous cabinet maker for Louis XIV from 1660-1710 approx. The "Gauderon a Paris" signed striking 8-day movement with verge escapement and cycloid arched silk thread suspension the dial covered with original black velvet, the beautiful gilded chapter ring with on top an adjustment for the pendulum. On the bottom, a silvered shield with the signature "Gauderon a Paris" beautiful pierced hands, the very unusual case on the sides mounted with four ebony twisted columns. Probably this case was custom made. Circa 1680.
