A very strong imposing handsome and good looking French quarter striking Louis XV wall-lantern clock, signed P Fardoil Paris.
The spectacular dial with blue and white enamel cartouches for the hours. Roman numerals and white cartouches and black Arabic numbers for the minutes, together with nicely pierced hands.On top of the dial a beautiful bronze cresting with a rooster, an important animal symbol in French history.Under the rooster, a medallion with birds on the left and right. Under the dial, a bronze ornament carrying an enamel cartouche with the signature P Fardoil Paris.
The spectacular quarter striking movement is in a brass posted frame.The impressive nest of bells on top makes the clock important and is a very functional decorative and charming object on the wall.The anchor escapement 3-train weight driven movement with long pendulum. The clock has a custom made iron wall bracket. The total length of the clock with pendulum is 1.15 cm.
