A very nice high quality animated late Louis XVI / Empire mantel clock Circa 1800.
The angel Amor is sharpening his arrow to make somebody fell in love.The rotating white marble circular stone is connected with his feet to activate the wheel.
Fantastic gilding and the contrast of the marble and gilded and patinated bronzes makes the clock very charming.
Also the size is very imposing.
Movement with white enamel dial Arabic Nr for the dates and Roman nrs for the hours.
Nice gilded sword hands for hours and minutes and a steel hand for the date.
The superb base with griot red marble and patinated and fire gilded bronzes together on nice gilded bun feet’s. Also the typical Louis XVI bronzes are nicely detailed.There is a special separate mechanism to activate the marble wheel.
