Gude & Meis Antique Clocks
A French Empire patinated bronze and ormolu cartel wall clock, circa 1800. The enamel dial has Roman numerals, blued-steel Breguet hands and a finely chased gilt bezel. The eight-day movement has anchor escapement with a silk-suspended pendulum and half-hour countwheel striking on a bell. A celestial sphere surmounts the shaped bronze case, whose gilt mounts include winged herms, laurel leaves and an acanthus border. The lower ornament combines leaves, wings and scrolls. Height 48 cm; width 28 cm; depth 11 cm.
