A pair of gilt bronze candlesticks decorated with leafs, palmettes, lotus buds and rosettes.

The French Régence period [1715-1723] is the time where, after the death of Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King, his brother, the Duke of Orléans was regent for the minor Louis XV.

Although new shapes and motives for the decoration developed, the style traits of the Louis XIV persisted for a long time. On these objects this can be seen in the rosette and palmette motives and the lambrequin at the top of the base.
