Description

An oak column cabinet with four doors: two smaller doors in the upper cabinet and two larger doors with double, centrally placed panels in the base cabinet. The cabinet consists of three sections, namely a base cabinet containing a drawer and two doors, an upper cabinet containing two smaller doors, and a separate crowning section consisting of a tall frieze with a projecting cornice. The frieze is decorated with three feminine portraits and carvings of scrolling acanthus leaves, birds and a central flower basket.

The cabinet design appears inspired by Classic architecture. The front features six flat, fluted pilasters with Doric capitals and richly carved pedestals, between which the panelled doors are set.

Behind the doors in the base cabinet is a centrally positioned shelf. The panels on the lower doors are separated by a richly decorated horizontal rail. The lower three pilasters stand upon a projecting, moulded rail borne by consoles in the form of lion masks. Between these consoles are the two drawers. The cabinet stands upon ball feet.
