Description

A small French gilt and silvered engraved travel clock, circa 1890. The 2.7-cm enamel dial has Arabic numerals, blued-steel spade hands and an indistinct signature. Its silvered brass surround is finely engraved with flowers and scrolls, echoed throughout the gilt brass gorge case. The eight-day movement has platform lever escapement with a bimetallic balance. Bevelled glass panels surround the case and reveal the escapement through the top; a carrying handle completes the design. Height with handle raised 10.5 cm; width 5 cm; depth 4.6 cm.
