Description
This beautifully made, high quality clock reflects the idea of ‘au bon Sauvage’ popular at the end of the 18th century.
Round enamel dial with Roman hour and minute numerals and Arabic quarters, ‘Directoire’ gilded pierced hands. The eight day movement with anchor escapement, silk thread suspension, striking on the hour and half hours with outside count wheel. The rectangular base decorated with a charming frieze with romantic motifs. The rich, well dressed Arab rider sits astride a ceremonially decorated mule with an engraved breastplate.
