Description

Het tapijt draagt de naam ‘Lente’ en werd door C.A. Lion Cachet ontworpen voor de leessalon van het passagiersschip MS Christiaan Huygens in 1927. Het kleurrijke ontwerp vormde destijds het stralende middelpunt van de luxe Art Deco salon die verder was uitgevoerd in grijze en witte tonen. Het tapijt viert de lente met een voorstelling geïnspireerd op de uitbundig bloeiende achtertuin van Lion Cachet zelf. De tuin wordt ‘omheind’ door een fantasierijke zwarte band met feniksen, waarop ook uitvoerder J.F. Semey wordt vermeld.
