Nice bronze cast of a recumbent and roaring lion. His mighty head upraised and looking to the right. The curling tail and one pawn is overleaping the rectangular base. This inscribed cast is after a model by Barye and probably executed by Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) who was the first posthumous editor of Antoine Louis Barye. (1796-1875) With brown-black patination. On black marble base (repaired).
See illustration plate LVIII.
