H. 130 cm. This imposing sculpture, representing St. Roch of Montpellier (1295 - 1327), is a clear example of the typical Spanish-Flemish style of the Burgos School. Luis Monreal Y Tejada attributes this piece to the anonymous artist known as the ‘Master of the portrait of King Ferdinand the Catholic’ (which was in the Collection Ricart).

St. Roch is portrayed as a handsome young man, standing in the Classical contrapost position. He wears a pilgrim’s hat on his frizzed curls. His cloak is slung over his left shoulder, in order to present his right upper-leg. The quality of the saint's facial expression is impressive.
