Description
Glass ceiling lamp designed by A.D. Copier with a sandblasted decor by Sybren Valkema for Glass Factory Leerdam. The lamp, designed in the late forties, has a wonderful decor of the zodiac signs Taurus, Aries and Gemini. The original drawings can be found in the archives of het Nationaal Glasmuseum in Leerdam and show that the zodiac signs Taurus and Aries are for certain designed by Valkema in 1947.

From 1943 to 1948, Sybren Valkema was an 'aesthetic forming' teacher at the Glasschool Leerdam ('Glass School of Leerdam'). In 1969 he founded the glass department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.
