David Schulman (1881 -1966) David Schulman was born on October 31, 1881 in Hilversum. His father Lion Schulman and had painted himself in Hilversum and Laren later in an art shop and also sold paint materials. David was therefore already at a young age in contact with famous artists in those years when he was delivering to them the orders include Albert Neuhuys in the drawings as a future painter David saw. David Schulman painted landscapes, often with a preference for snowy landscapes, but also painted portraits and still lifes. He was a member of the Arti et Amicitiae associations, the Association Gooische Painter, St. Luke Pulchri Studio. Schulman painted in impressionist style, with particular success by sunlit landscapes. Prior to his villa 'Red Beech concerned he had his studio along with other fellow artists in the painting workshop "The Flax Barn. Schulman received numerous awards, Willinck of the Collen Award in 1909, a bronze medal at the 1910 exhibition in Santiago inn, a silver medal at the International Exhibition in San Francisco in 1915, the gold medal of St. Luke "on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the association in 1930, the "Additional Premium" (cash price) at the autumn exhibition "Arti et Amicitiae in 1936 and the Gold Medal of Her Majesty the Queen in 1939. In 1955, Schulman made a Knight of the Order of Orange Nassau. He was a member of the jury exhibition to mark the 300th anniversary of the University of Amsterdam, Stedelijk Museum 1932.en chairman of the exhibition "Painters of Now" at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
David Schulman died October 21, 1966 in Laren. (Do mention in the Pieter A. Scheen 1750-1950)
