This strikingly wide secretaire is not only a thought out piece of writing furniture, but also a manageable storage place. The latter due to the broad lower compartment with shelves behind double doors and the spaces left and write of the writing compartment.
The item has an extraordinary layout and shape. The lower part, resting on five tapered legs, with its undulating front divides the lower part of the cabinet visually in two. The upper part, on the other hand is divided in three; a central writing space flanked by two cupboards. But not only is the layout of the two-part cabinet remarkable. The shape of the different compartments is distinct; the lower part undulating, the upper part with a midsection that is bulging out and side compartments that are straight. These features create an interesting image of light and shadow on the object.
