Two-part piece
The upper case with molded broken pediment cornice with in the center a winged lion head above a cartouche with inscription 'HPE'
The cornice overhanging two glass arched doors
These doors open to reveal inner shelves offering convenient storage for books
The lower section, larger in depth, is made of a drop-front desk at the top opening to open compartments, surrounded by petite drawers and the writing area, underneath a drawer a cellar
The bottom part has two small and two long drawers
Bronze mounts
The furniture is decorated with a beautiful gilt plethora scenes in Chinoiserie decor: landscapes, exotic animals and figures. The sides are no less beautiful decorated.
Raised on scrolled bracket feet
