An elegant cylinder desk with the characteristic semicircular flap, centrally decorated with a raised oval with a gilt bronze border and parquetry within. The raised upstand is fitted with three drawers at the front, each featuring a continuous gilt bronze geometric pattern, and finished at the top with a gallery border. Under the extendable writing surface, four drawer fronts are located at the front. A safe is housed in the left drawer unit. The desk is supported by four square, downward-tapering legs ending in gilt bronze sockets. The entire desk is trimmed along the edges with gilt bronze decorative posts. The interior, with its leather writing surface, houses three additional compartments and four drawers.

The desk can stylistically be attributed to Martin Ohneberg. This cabinetmaker, possibly of German descent, learned his trade around the age of thirty-five and initially settled on Rue Traversière-Saint-Antoine. Later, he could be found in the Cour de la Juiverie, where he was still mentioned in 1798. His extensive and excellent production was partly intended for merchants and upholsterers such as the Presle brothers. His work belongs entirely to the Transition and Louis XVI styles and includes both simple veneered furniture and furniture with marquetry.

This highly recognizable and varied decoration can be recognized by bouquets of flowers, birds, musical instruments, vases, trophies, bows, draperies, architectural landscapes, and ruins, which stand out in light tones against the veneered background. Sometimes these motifs are engraved in an oval medallion, particularly on the flaps of secretaires; furniture with parquetry from his hand is rarer.
