"T hangt Inden sack, wilt niet verlanghen jare / Och quaemt uit dat ick aent ontfanghen ware"
 
"Whaij vriendt in u visschen, en heb ick gheen vreucht siet / whant u hengelroeij is slap, en u aes en deught niet" 
 

On these two panels obscene expressions are depicted. These expressions were common in the sixteenth and seventeenth century and were used by a variety of painters and writers.

The fisherman is mocked with his impotence. The woman in the interior is in desperation because her husband is working evermore.
